How to check internet speeds on local pc

Are you in the office or working from home? ________________________

Are you working wired or Wireless? ________________________

What is the data and time of the issue? ________________________

Perform a speed test using the instructions below:

Minimise your remote desktop and go to the local desktop. Open your web browser and follow one of the two options below:

Visit https://www.speedtest.net/ and press go.

Or visit https://fast.com/

Now perform a Ping test

To check your ping and check you have a stable connection that is not dropping out, go to start and type cmd.

This will open command prompt, type ping 8.8.8.8 -t  and then hit enter to start the command.

The ping time should be low like the below screenshot.

If the ping shows “request time out”, this means the internet is dropping out like the below screenshot.

Things that may help 

Where possible connect via a cable instead of wireless. This includes home and in the office. 

If using WI-FI it is advised you are in the same room as the router as the further from the router you are the more the speeds will drop.
